How to Get There
Transportation & Travel
You'll fly into Rio de Janeiro (GIG). From Rio, Búzios is about a 2.5–3 hour drive along the coast. Below are the transport providers we recommend and everything you need to know about visas and passports for US and European citizens.
Rio → Búzios transfers
Any of these three will get you door-to-door. Book in advance for the wedding weekend — they fill up.
Once you’re in Búzios, we highly recommend using UberBlack. Uber is very accessible around town and cost-effective for getting between beaches, restaurants, and the wedding house.
US Citizens — eVisa & Passport
US citizens now need an eVisa to enter Brazil. Apply through the official Brazilian government portal — it takes up to 10 business days.
- Check your passport is valid and does not expire within 6 months of travel.
- Apply for your Brazil eVisa at least one month before you fly — processing takes up to 10 business days.
- The only official portal is brazil.vfsevisa.com. Do not use third-party sites.

- Print two paper copies of your eVisa and carry them separately while travelling.
- Save a screenshot of your eVisa on your phone.
- Keep the confirmation email with the eVisa attached in your inbox — don't archive it.
European Citizens — Passport
Citizens of Germany, Spain, and most other European countries do not need a visa for tourist stays in Brazil of up to 90 days — a valid passport is enough. Confirm the latest requirements with your own country's foreign ministry before you fly, in case rules change closer to the date.
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date.
- You may be asked for proof of onward travel and accommodation at immigration.
- No visa or eVisa is required for tourism up to 90 days (as of today's rules).
